This is just awesome. I loved the perfect placing of the recycle-bin and for the first time I have seen a computer where wallpaper is really on a wall.

Making your desktop go 3D isn’t a tough task and fortunately after reading this article it would become even easier, because I am going to take you through two best available softwares to do this.

Bump Top

Initially I thought it would be a huge sized software but amazingly the free version is only 17.7 MB (Less than some famous themes). Pro version is also available, but free version isn’t bad too as it performs most of the tasks. Features list is too big, so better watch this video and get the real feel.

However, a video on you tube says you can get the pro version for free. I haven’t tried it but you can if you wish.

Real Desktop

A similar software but comparatively low sized (4.63 MB). An introductory video for this is also available on its homepage which is similar to the above video.

Both the softwares are good and nicely perform their job, However, there are a lot of reviews on the internet comparing both the products. A surface comparison can be found here.

Till date the best way to perform on Google is to get more and more links. Every new blogger works hard on this. But amazingly most of the links you get as a new blogger are in blogrolls, Sidebars or comments of other blogs. These are the areas Google hardly cares.

If your blog is new and not listed, Look for a friend who has a site indexed on Google and ask him to put a link to any of your article (Not the homepage) in his latest post (Not in a previous post). If you dont have any article he can refer to, Just write one.

This trick is a combination of two steps, where first step tells you the IP address of a website and second one provides a list of all the sites hosted on any IP address.

1. In order to find the IP address of web host of your website (or any other website) :-

Open the C prompt of your computer. [Start>Run>cmd]

In the command prompt window that appears type ping www.example.com and hit enter.

The ping output (the next line appears automatically) will appear something like this:

Pinging example.com [97.74.181.1] with 32 bytes of data

The numbers enclosed in brackets are the IP address of your web host. e.g. In this case the IP is 97.74.181.1 Make a note of it

2. Now we have the IP address of the web host and all we need is a list of websites hosted there.

Go to www.bing.com and in the search box type “IP:” followed by the ip address.

E.g. IP:97.74.181.1 (no spaces)

Bing will display all the websites hosted by your web host.

3. Just a bonus information, If you do not want to track other sites and just want to know who is the web host of a web site, simply go to Whoishostingthis.com and put the url of same in the find box.

Don’t just scan the article, because what the bullet points say is what the world knows. What everyone doesn’t know is how to customize these free services to make your website not looking like a free one.

Blog or website

Most of the people get confused between a website or a blog. A blog is a kind of website but far easy to create and manage. If you just want to enjoy publishing contents and don’t want to put your hands in coding and all, better make a blog, but if you want more control on your site, consider creating a website. Decide and proceed.

Register a free domain

A domain like “example.blogger.com” or “example.hostname.com” does not look professional. For either of the method listed below, you will need a URL which looks like yours. Click here to get a free .co.cc domainbefore moving forward.

1. Blogger – This is the most easy and popular way to create a blog. But a blog made on Blogger shout out loudly “I am created on blogger for free”. Follow these 3 simple steps to completely remove the blogger effect from your blog.

-          Change the domain: Blogger’s blog has a blogspot domain e.g. example.blogspot.com. To remove this map the free domain you have just registered. Check out how you can replace the default blogger URL with your .co.cc domain.

-          Remove the nav bar: Blogger puts a default navigation bar on top of every blog. There are 2 easy ways to remove it. Either install a third party template (be extra careful while choosing one) or follow this simple process to remove your nav bar.

-          Change the blogger favicon: Every blog created on blogger comes with a default orange favicon with a big “B” written on it. To change this just replace the code “<title><data:blog:pageTitle/></title>” with “<link href=’your image url’ rel=’shortcut icon’/>” in your templates HTML. Now you have a blog which is completely blogger free. Enjoy blogging.

2. Wordpress – Creating a blog on wordpress.com is also a damn easy task. Go to wordpress.com, Sign up and create a blog. But the blog created here also has some problems. Again you have a domain like example.wordpress.com (Mapping own domain will cost you 10$), you can’t put your ads etc. So why the hell I am talking about this? Well, because it is highly recommended by experienced bloggers and webmaster that before putting your hands in self hosted wordpress blog you should run a blog on wordpress.com. Believe me this will give you a strong start when you will jump to the self hosted one. Don’t forget:

-          You can map your domain via URL forwarding system.

-          You can easily export this blog to self hosted blog anytime.

So if you are a newbie, give it a try. It’s far better than blogger.

3. Wordpress (Self hosted) – If you want to take your blog to the next level, you should try this. Wordpress was developed as a blogging platform but you can easily create a dynamic website using it as a CMS (content management system). To create a self hosted Wordpress blog for free you need:

-          A free domain: Register one with .co.cc

-          A free web host: There are a number of web hosts who provide free hosting services e.g. Freebeehosting.com, Hostaider.com, Host4post.com etc. Sign up with them and install a fresh copy of wordpress. Some hosts also provide fantastico or other installer which will install your wordpress in seconds, otherwise follow the famous 5 minute wordpress installation. When you are done, just map your .co.cc domain with your webhost.

Note: Above mentioned three methods are most popular and easy methods to create a free blog. There are a lot more services where you can create free blogs. E.g. Weebly, Sosblog etc. But I will suggest to be with leaders.

Enough of blogging, Lets move to websites.

4. Google sites – A damn easy way to create a website in minutes. Just go to sites.google.com. Signup with your Google account and you are good to go. You have option to choose from a number of templates and when your website is ready, Map it with your .co.cc domain.

5. Free hosting (Joomla, Drupal etc) – As mentioned earlier, there are a number of webhosts like Freebeehosting.com, Hostaider.com, Host4post.com etc, who provide free hosting services. You can easily sign up and create site using your favorite CMS e.g. Joomla, Drupal etc or by uploading your own HTML files. You can also create forums using PHPmyBB or SMF. Again don’t forget to map your free domain.

6. Free Site builders – If you don’t want to dirty your hands in hosting and all or you don’t like wasting your time in Joomla or Drupal, Just go for Free site builders e.g. Weebly.com, Wetpaint.com etc. Some of them give you complete control over your website while some put some limitation. Do a bit Google search and you will find one according to your need. Make sure your site builder lets you map your free domain with site.

There are a lot more ways to make a free website. But it is highly recommended to switch to paid services as soon your site starts earning for you.

Besides a lot of functionality MS Excel can also act as a powerful flash player, But first you need to embed the flash file in excel. Here is how you can do it -

Download a flash game(.swf) file.

Save the .swf file on a convenient location, You will need to copy and paste the path later on.

For Excel 2007

1. Open Excel and go the top left options button. Choose excel options in the bottom right hand corner.

2. Click show developer tab in ribbon.

3. Go to the developers tab and click insert. Choose insert shockwave object.

4. Create an area on the spreadsheet as large as the window you are working on.

5. Right click the area you just created and choose properties.

- Make the embed movies option “True”

- Find the file you want on your computer and paste the path into the movie option. (exit properties)

6. Click design mode and you now have an active game.

7. Right click the game area on the screen and choose play.

8. Save normally and send it to yourself at work. Have fun.

For Excel 2003

1. From the ‘View’ menu select ‘Toolbars’ and tick the ‘Control Toolbox’.

2. On the ‘Control Toolbox’ toolbar click on the ‘More controls’ icon.

3. A list of controls will be displayed. Scroll down until you find the ‘Shockwave Flash Object’ and then click on it.

4. This should change your cursor to a crosshair. Move to the area on the worksheet where you want to inset the ‘Shockwave Flash Object’. Left click, hold and drag to create a box of the required size.

5. Next right click on the control you have just inserted and select ‘Properties’.

Set the following properties

• Autoload = True
• EmbedMovie = True
• Enabled = True
• Loop = True
• Playing = True
• Visible = True
• Movie = c:\flash.swf (Change this to the location of your .swf file)

6.  Close the ‘Properties’ control. Save the file. Close the file.

7. Reopen the file. The .swf file should start playing automatically.

The simple concept behind these tricks is that whenever you see a webpage, your browser downloads all the files (like images, flash files etc.) in a temporary folders and delete these files later on. You can simply go to that temporary folder and save those files somewhere else in your computer. But make sure to let the files download completely or you may end up getting a corrupted file.

1. Download and save Flash files from Firefox

• Go to the web page containing the desired file and let the page open completely
• Go to Tools > Page Info
• On the window that appears, Click the Media Tab
• The media tab will display a list of all the files (e.g. images, CSS, SWF etc) that were downloaded by your browser while loading the page
• Locate the .swf file and click on the save as button to download.

2. Download and save Flash files from Internet Explorer.

• Go to the web page containing the desired file and let the page open completely
• Go to Tools > Internet Options
• Go to the General Tab, click the Settings button available in the Temporary Internet Files group.
• Click View Files to open your Temporary Internet Files folder. Don’t be shocked if you see thousands of files there
• Click View – Details
• Click View – Arrange Icons By – Internet Address. Depending upon the webpage, there could be one or more Flash files (.swf) under the Internet Address, Once you located your file, right-click and choose Copy. Then paste the .swf file in any other directory. Don’t close the page until the process completes.

Remember this rule applies on any kind of files. You can even download flash movies, images, pdf files etc using these tricks.

Normally it happens while activating some theme or plugin, so the main concept is to delete the theme/plugin folder from you directory,

1. Connect to you blog’s root directory through ftp or file manager.

2. Locate the theme folder for the theme changing to which your blog was disappeared. e.g. If it was Inove theme then the location must be public_html/wp-content/themes/inove.

3. Delete the folder.

4. Go to your web browser and put the address for your dashboard page i.e. www.yoursite.com/wp-admin

5. Dashboard page will appear. Click on change theme button.

6. Change theme page will appear with the message, “Your current theme has broken, Default theme activated.”

7. Activate any other theme and your blog is back.

Downloading videos from YouTube also comes in similar category, hence we do not need any paid or free software for this. Below I am outlining two simple tricks. First will enable you to download in the default .flv format, whereas using next trick you can download in any other popular format.

In the first trick, you just need to replace the word “youtube” in the address bar with the word “voobys”. e.g. If the url in the address bar is “http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBZRlhtMQV8&feature=dir” , it should be now “http://www.voobys.com/watch?v=FBZRlhtMQV8&feature=dir” and click go. This will redirect you to another webpage containing the same video with a download button.

Click on Download Video button and it will start downloading video for you. But the video downloaded will be in .flv format and probably you will need a player to play it on your computer or a converter to convert it in your Mobile friendly formats.

The next trick gives you an option to download the video in different formats. This time, instead of using the word “voobys”, use “kickyoutube”. The new url should be “http://www.kickyoutube.com/watch?v=FBZRlhtMQV8&feature=dir“. similarly it will redirect you to another page with the same video and options to download it in different popular formats like mp4, 3gp, avi etc.

Choose the format you would like to download and click go. You video will be in your hard disk in minutes.

Due to the popularity of YouTube there are a tons of options to download videos, but these tricks are among the simplest and put no virus in your computer.

Hope you are doing well. You might be wondering about the sudden change. There was no reason for restructuring as everything was all set and I was a happy blogger with a handful of regular readers, who always appraised me for my efforts to give you quality contents. In fact, I wasn’t ready for this, but all of a sudden I thought,”If I could not do it now, I would not be able to do it ever”. But the question comes, why it was necessary?

When I started blogging in mid 2009, frankly speaking, it was an alien thing for me. As a newbie I started writing articles and you all appraised me. I was motivated and put more effort to be a good blogger. With time my blogging skills improved and there was a huge difference between my first and recent post. In fact there was some posts which shouldn’t be there, coz afterwards I realized that there is nothing unique in them as the internet is full of similar posts.

Last night, this blog got a new platform. Since its inception it was hosted freely. In order to make it more stable and fast I moved to a new and better paid platform. While moving the database I thought why not to restructure the contents right now. I know its going to screw me but the new blog will be better organised with filtered and edited posts.

So that was the entire story behind restructuring. I hope you will enjoy reading the new blog more than I enjoyed creating it. See ya around.
